Fund 17 Fellows are trained university students who help turn your hustle into a livelihood.

You’ve got a great product or service, some customers and the drive to make your passion a sustainable business. But dealing with city hall, figuring out how to grow, what prices to charge, how to expand your social media presence and other business necessities are giving you a headache. Going it alone makes it even more challenging. This is where a Fund 17 Fellow can help! Fellows are passionate, committed university students who provide weekly, one-on-one support to local entrepreneurs over the course of an academic semester (about three months).

What is required to work with a Fund 17 Fellow?

  • Step one: goal-setting. Once you are paired with a fellow, Fund 17 will help you set goals for the relationship. These often include legal registrations, opening a business bank account, establishing an online presence, writing a business plan or implementing a new marketing strategy. These goals are established through a collaborative process between the entrepreneur, fellow and Fund 17 staff.
  • Commitment! Entrepreneurs agree to weekly meetings and collaborating with their fellow to meet pre-set goals together. Fellows aren’t interns for the business; they are short-term business partners who help you navigate resources and build a solid foundation for your business to succeed in the long-term. In between meetings, the entrepreneur and the Fellow will work independently to progress on goals.
  • Attendance at three cohort events. Entrepreneurs will attend three casual workshops and networking events throughout the three-month program period. These events allow entrepreneurs in the program to meet each other, make connections, learn together and celebrate their successes!
